What is the 2014 Subaru Forester oil type?

I just bought a 2014 Subaru Forester and I love it so far! I want to keep it running at peak performance, so I’m going to change the oil regularly on my own. What is the oil type for the 2014 Subaru Forester?

If you want to save a few bucks by changing the oil on your own, the 2014
Subaru Forester’s
 oil type is full synthetic SAE 5W-30 motor oil.
If that’s not available, Subaru has also approved SAE 5W-40 conventional and blended motor oil, but you may see a slight drop-off in fuel economy and overall performance.
To complete the oil change, you’ll need 4.4 quarts of 5W-30 or 5W-40 motor oil, but you can typically buy a 5-quart bottle at most automotive stores. Just make sure to properly dispose of the used motor oil at an approved location, such as a repair shop or a recycling center.
