- Make sure the area where you plan to work is clean, and level enough to safely operate a floor jack. Check that you have enough space to easily move in and out from under the car.
- Find an easy-to-reach area to store your supplies. In addition to motor oil, you’ll also need a new filter, a wrench that fits your drain plug, a drip pan, and safety goggles. Keep rags or paper towels nearby to catch spills.
