What is the 2008 Honda Pilot oil type?

My grandfather has a 2008 Honda Pilot that needs an oil change, but he doesn’t want to take it to a mechanic. I know how to do it, but what type of oil do I need?

I’m sure your grandfather will appreciate it! The 3.5L V6 engine that comes standard in the 2008
Honda Pilot
requires synthetic 5W-20 motor oil like Mobil 1 - Extended Performance Full Synthetic Motor Oil 5W-20.
In addition to changing your oil, Honda suggests servicing your Pilot every 7,500 miles to ensure proper performance. If your grandfather is putting more mileage on the Pilot, you’ll want to ensure it’s inspected more frequently. In addition to changing the oil, you’ll also want to do a multipoint inspection and rotate the tires to ensure even wear.
Once you hit 15,000 miles from your last maintenance check, here’s what you’ll want to do:
  • Engine oil and filter replacement
  • Brakes and parking brake adjustments
  • Tie-rod ends inspection
  • Steering gear box and boots inspection
  • Driveshaft boots inspection
  • Suspension components inspection
  • Brake hose and lines inspection
  • Inspect fluid levels and condition
  • Cooling system hoses and connections inspection
