I have a 2007 Nissan Altima, and I’m looking to start doing oil changes instead of taking it to the mechanic. What type of oil does it need?

Whether you have a 2.5 L four-cylinder engine or the 3.5 L V6 engine, it’s recommended to use SAE 5W-30 Synthetic Motor Oil for your 2007

. However, you can also use 5W-30 synthetic oil for the 2.5 L engine. The only difference between the two engines is the amount of oil required.Synthetic oil is often purer than conventional motor oil and leads to better engine performance. Your vehicle also needs its oil changed less frequently with synthetic oil, every 7,500 to 10,000 miles.
