uses fully synthetic 5W-20 motor oil. The 2004 Ford F-150 pickup truck came equipped with two engine options: 4.6-liter V8 and 5.4-liter V8. And thankfully, both engines use the same oil type—though be aware that the 4.6 engine’s motor oil capacity is 6 quarts with the filter, while the 5.4 engine is 7 quarts. Ford recommends changing the oil in your F-150 every 7,500 miles or every six months—whichever comes first.
