What is rental reimbursement on my car insurance policy?

I noticed that rental reimbursement is included with full coverage on my policy. What is it?

“On a car insurance policy,
rental reimbursement coverage
provides you with a rental car after an accident.
If your vehicle is undriveable after an accident, your rental car reimbursement will pay for a rental car up to your policy maximums. This is usually represented as two numbers: a per day limit and a per accident limit.
For example, $20/$600 would pay for a rental car that costs $20 a day until your limit of $600 is exhausted.
In most cases, your car would be fixed before you exhaust your per accident limit.
Rental reimbursement is an optional coverage.
Some carriers include default coverage when
comprehensive insurance
and
collision insurance
is added for no charge. Others require you to specifically select the coverage you’re looking for.”
