North Carolina
is defined as a willing disregard for the rights and safety of others by way of driving at a speed or in a manner that endangers people or property.A few different driving behaviors could cause you to get a reckless driving ticket. These include (but are not limited to):
- Speeding more than 15 mph over the limit
- Street racing
- Illegal passing
- Running a stop sign/stoplight
- Aggressive swerving
- Tailgating
In North Carolina, a reckless driving ticket is a Class 2 misdemeanor that stays on your permanent record. Other consequences of a reckless driving ticket include:
- Up to 60 days in jail
- A fine of up to $1,000
- 4 points on your license (wherein 12 points in a 3-year period results in license suspension)
