I’m planning on buying my son a 2022 Nissan Sentra for his birthday in a few months. It’ll be his first car, so I want to make sure it has good warranty coverage. What is Nissan’s warranty?

Every new
Nissan
comes standard with a factory warranty that’s good for three years or 36,000 miles. This warranty applies to almost any part of the car that’s malfunctioning due to factory defects or problems with the original workmanship. You’ll also get a limited powertrain warranty that offers coverage for five years or 60,000 miles on the car’s engine, transmission, transaxle, drivetrain, and restraint system.
Keep in mind that while Nissan’s warranties offer generous coverage, you can’t use them for every type of repair. Here’s what they don’t cover:
- Basic maintenance like getting a new set of brake pads or an oil change.
- Tires and seatbelts.
- Damage that happens to the vehicle as the result of an accident, natural disaster, theft, or being towed.
- Any modified parts or aftermarket components added to the vehicle after the initial purchase.
