What is mist on windshield wipers?

I know that rotating the dial on my wiper lever changes the speed of the blades. But what is mist on windshield wipers?

This is a great question! Mist on windshield wipers is a mode where your wipers will run one time and then stop—very useful for light mist or condensation.
The majority of modern vehicles have a mist mode for the windshield wipers. Activate this mode by lifting the wiper lever and then quickly releasing it. The blades will move across the windshield once and then stop.
Use mist mode anytime you have light mist, wetness, or condensation on the windshield. This one-time, temporary setting is manually triggered so you don’t have to deal with ongoing wiper movement when it’s not needed.
