I’m shopping around for a new luxury car and I’m currently comparing various safety features. BMW touts its active cruise control, but I’m not sure how it’s different from standard cruise control. What is BMW’s active cruise control?

Active cruise control on a BMW is an advanced driver-assist feature that uses sensors to automatically slow and accelerate your vehicle to maintain a safe distance from other motorists.
The driver simply sets the speed they desire—just like normal cruise control. This feature then uses a sensor and radar to monitor the speed of cars up to 650 feet in front of the BMW. You don’t have to stop and reset your cruise control to adjust to the flow of traffic—your BMW will do it for you!
