What is a PBJ on your driving record?

I received probation before judgment (PBJ) for a minor offense. I have complied with the terms. Will probation before judgment impact my driving record?

That’s a great question! As you mentioned, PBJ means probation before judgment. In most states, this ruling means you aren’t being convicted of the offense and it won’t go on your driving record.
Typically, in a PBJ where the terms and conditions have been met, you can expect some or all of the following to happen:
  • The conviction will be struck from your record
  • No points will be added to your license
  • Your insurance rates should not increase
It’s important to know that the offense that warranted the PBJ and the PBJ itself will stay on a separate record. This is so a judge can see it if you come to court on another charge.
Even though a PBJ may not impact your car insurance rates, it’s never a bad idea to use
