I’ve had my Nissan Leaf for years and years, but recently, it seems like it’s lost some of its battery charge and performance. I’ve read that you can upgrade the battery, but I don’t know exactly what that entails. What is a battery upgrade for a Nissan Leaf?

Over time your Nissan Leaf battery can discharge, and while it still works, you can not go as far or get as much power. That’s just what a Nissan Leaf battery upgrade aims to fix.
A Nissan battery upgrade is simply a newer or larger battery to replace the old one. In most cases, Leaf owners go with a larger battery so they have a longer range per charge and can get a bit more power when they hit the accelerator.
However, they aren’t cheap. A Nissan Leaf battery upgrade can often cost somewhere between $3,000 and $5,000—so it’s essentially the same cost as buying a refurbished battery from Nissan, but with added power and perks.
