What is a hit-and-run crash?

I’m confused by the definition of a hit-and-run crash. I thought it meant hitting a person and driving away, but I saw in the newspaper that someone got charged for a hit-and-run for hitting a truck. What exactly is a hit-and-run?

Actually, you’re right that a hit-and-run crash can involve hitting a person. However, hit-and-runs don’t just apply to people—they can apply to objects, too! If someone hits something or someone with their car and knowingly drives away the accident is considered a hit-and-run.
While hit-and-runs are often portrayed dramatically on TV, some of the most common casualties of hit-and-run accidents are parked cars. Drivers often hit parked cars and continue driving to avoid financial responsibility for the accident, especially if they don’t have car insurance to help them with the cost.
Luckily, it’s easy to find an insurance policy to keep you safe when you use the

Hope that helps clear up what a hit-and-run crash is!
