What would be considered a good credit score for a car loan? I can’t afford a car without a loan, but I’m worried that my credit isn’t good enough.

Finances can be tricky, but try not to worry. You can almost always find a car loan—no matter your credit score. That said, the terms and APR you secure will likely reflect your credit score. In general, 660 or higher is considered a good credit score for a car loan.
But if your score is lower than that, use these tips to get a car loan:
  • Find a cosigner
with excellent credit. This will help you qualify for better loans and secure more reasonable terms.
  • Make a large down payment. Most lenders offer better interest rates and terms for borrowers who pay a large amount of the principal upfront.
  • Search for the right lender. Some lenders specialize in low-credit car loans or borrowers in bankruptcy. So you’ll likely be able to find a lender who can accommodate your needs.
Remember that once you get a new car, you may also need a new insurance policy. Luckily, you can find the best rate on the coverage you need in minutes with
