What information is needed when reporting a claim?
How can I make sure I give the claims agent all of the information they need? Unfortunately, I was in an accident yesterday and was so frazzled that I don't think I even knew what I was saying! Is there any way I can contact them again and give them the information they need now that I’m in a better state of mind?

claims agents are used to people being a little scared and unsettled on the phone, so don’t worry! Now that things are calmer get a pen and paper and write down everything you can remember from the incident.Once you feel that you have remembered everything, call the claims department back and ask if they need any other information. Here is a list of additional questions they usually ask:
- Who do you think was at fault for the accident?
- Where were you going/coming from?
- What were you doing right before the accident?
- Do you have the contact information for any witnesses?
- What was the weather like?
In most cases, the claims agent will call you back for any follow-up information that is needed.
Once the claim is settled, look at your policy. Were you happy with the coverage and how the claim was handled? If not, it may be time to shop for a new insurance provider.
