What impact does an HOV ticket have in Texas?

I just got a ticket for driving in the carpool lane in Texas. How much is it going to cost and is there anything else I need to consider?

According to the Texas Transportation Code (Sec. 452.0613), the ticket for driving in a high-occupancy vehicle lane in
Texas
can’t exceed $100.
Neglecting to pay your ticket for 30 days or more after its receipt is a Class C misdemeanor and punishable by a fine of up to $500.
Let’s say you pay your fine and continue to drive:
  • The ticket will probably show up on your
    Texas driving record
and could raise your insurance rates for the next three years
  • You could also face a driver’s license suspension if you commit three more moving violations within the next year, or six more violations within the next two years
