What happens if a golf ball hits my car while driving on a public road?

I was driving when a golf ball struck my back windshield. Is the city responsible, or do I have to make a claim on my own car insurance?

“If a golf ball hits your car on a public road, you’d need to find the person responsible. The city wouldn’t take accountability for the damage as you were on a public road.
If you have
comprehensive coverage
through your car insurance, you could submit a claim.
Comprehensive coverage covers falling objects and broken glass, but you’ll have to meet your deductible before coverage kicks in. If the golf ball caused $350 worth of damage but your deductible is $500, your
car insurance
won’t apply.
If that happens, you’ll be responsible for paying for the damage out of pocket unless you can find the person responsible.
When damage occurs, it’s a great time to look at your insurance policy. While changes won’t help this claim, they can protect your car in the future. You can collect quotes from various companies to determine what the best rate is for the coverage your require.
