What engine is in a GMC Envoy?

I know the GMC Envoy models have been discontinued, but I’ve been considering buying one anyway. Did the GMC Envoy have a good enough engine to justify buying a used one?

The 2008
GMC Envoy
has a 4.2-liter inline six-cylinder Vortec engine that gets 291 horsepower. Depending on the model you purchase, you might get an upgraded version of the Envoy with a 5.3-liter V8 Vortec engine that can get 302 horsepower.
While GMC discontinued the Envoy after 2008, the car is still generally considered to be pretty reliable. If you’re only purchasing this vehicle for the engine, though, there are plenty of newer vehicles with great engines that will probably have fewer miles on them, like the
Chevy Equinox
or the
GMC Arcadia
.
Regardless of the car you choose, though, you’ll need an insurance policy to match. Check out the
