What does Zipcar insurance cover?
I know I have insurance through Zipcar, but what is covered? Do I need to supplement with my own insurance?

“Zipcar’s car insurance policy covers physical damage, similar to collision coverage on a standard car insurance policy.
Zipcar insurance also includes:
- Secondary third party liability coverage
- Personal Injury Protection (PIP) or no-fault coverage if required by the state
In an accident, drivers are responsible for up to the first $1,000. After that, Zipcar covers the remaining damage. You can purchase a damage protection plan that will help reduce or eliminate the initial $1,000 as well.
If you’re concerned about Zipcar’s policy not offering adequate coverage, you can always purchase non-owner car insurance as a supplemental plan. Non-owner insurance is a policy for those who don’t own vehicles. A policy will extend coverage to any car you drive, which may include a Zipcar.
To learn more about non-owners insurance or get a quote, you’ll need to call car insurance companies. As non-owner’s policies are nonstandard, you typically can’t request a quote online. You can also call or text Jerry’s friendly agents at (650)753-7799. As licensed agents, they can help you find the best policy from numerous companies to protect you while using a Zipcar.”
