I’ve been thinking about buying a used Toyota Prius, but I’ve heard that I might be better off getting a model that’s been Certified Pre-Owned by Toyota because of the additional warranty coverage. What is covered by Toyota’s CPO Warranty?

The Toyota Prius is an amazing car, no matter if you buy it new, used, or Certified Pre-Owned. That being said, the Toyota Certified Pre-Owned Warranty includes a 12-month/12,000-mile limited warranty, a 7-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, and a 7-year roadside assistance warranty.
Here’s what each of these three subtypes of the Toyota Certified Pre-Owned Warranty covers:
- Limited Warranty: Covers replacement of components that fail under normal use as the result of defective materials or workmanship.
- Powertrain Warranty: Covers repair costs of major engine and transmission components, as well as all internally lubricated parts.
- Roadside Assistance: Offers drivers 24/7 roadside assistance for flat tires, jumpstarts, lockouts, towing, and fuel delivery.
