What does roadside assistance do?

"Why should I add it to my car insurance policy? It looks like it'll be an extra $40 every six months. I want to try and save money on my insurance."

“Roadside assistance can protect you and your vehicle if you’re ever in an emergency situation. Common situations that roadside assistance covers are:
  • locking your keys in your car
  • jump starts
  • flat tires
  • winching
  • towing
Whether you need roadside assistance depends on your vehicle and comfort level. If you live in a more rural area or have an older car, you may like having the extra protection in case something happens.
Not everyone needs roadside assistance. If you’re comfortable fixing a flat tire or have a new car, you may not need to spend the additional money.
Since you are trying to save, you can weigh out the cost benefits. You should compare the cost of individual services like a tow truck or locksmith with the cost of roadside assistance. Whatever seems most beneficial to you is what you should go with.”
