What does “Ka” mean on a radar detector?
I use one of those police radar detectors to help me while I’m driving, but I don’t know what some of these letters are for. What does the “Ka” on a radar detector mean?

The letters on the radar detector are used to signify different ranges or bands of frequencies that police radars have used over time. Here are some important facts about Ka band radars:
- Ka band radars use waves between 33.4 GHz and 36.0 GHz and can operate on as many as five different frequencies
- Ka band radars are the most up to date and advanced police radars
- Ka band alerts on a radar detector are the least likely to be a false alarm
- Ka band radars are the hardest frequencies to detect
