What does gas guzzler mean?

Sometimes I hear people talk about gas guzzlers and I don’t really understand what they mean. Is a gas guzzler a specific type of car or is it something else?

When someone calls a car a gas guzzler, they typically mean that the car uses a lot of
fuel
to perform basic operations. Gas guzzlers have a comparably poor fuel efficiency, so the metaphor that they drink (guzzle) gasoline is apt.
Gas guzzler is usually used in a negative way because this type of car has a larger environmental impact than more eco-friendly vehicles. However, these types of vehicles are still very popular in the US because they are often large in size and offer luxurious features.
