What does bobtail insurance cover?

Do I need bobtail insurance? I am an independent trucker and one of the companies I contracted with asked if I had bobtail insurance. I don't, but I am not sure if this is something that I need to consider.

“Bobtail insurance is usually a requirement by most employers or a partners that you are contracted with, however if it isn’t, it’s in your best interest to add the coverage to your existing commercial policy.
Bobtail insurance covers your
liability
after you have dropped off your load and are no longer towing the trailer. If you are going from a drop-off location to another pick-up or if you are headed home for the day, this is the policy that will cover you.
If you are working under dispatch, your current policy will cover you. Once you are no longer on the clock, that coverage stops. Bobtail insurance helps during those in-between times.
If your current insurance carrier doesn’t offer this coverage, check with a bigger insurance company.
Safe driving!”
