What does base price mean for a car?

I’ve been trying to learn more about car prices so that I can get ready to buy a new car, but there are a bunch of terms that I don’t understand that are making it harder. What does it mean when a dealership lists a base price for a car?

If you’re not familiar with some of the terms used by car dealers, shopping for a new vehicle can definitely be confusing! The base price of a car is the price without options. Any optional features (like a sunroof, anti-theft devices, or even some cosmetic options) will add to the car’s overall value.
If you don’t have any specific features that you’re looking for in a car, the base price is a great way to compare different vehicles by price. If you do want, say, tinted windows, you’ll need to factor that into the price of the car before you can compare pricing.
Once you find the perfect car, you’ll also need to find the perfect insurance policy. Insurance terms can be confusing too, but the Jerry app is here to help!
