What do the Mazda RX-8 dash lights mean?
I rented a Mazda RX-8 for a weekend trip and a light came on in the dash. I need help interpreting them so the rental company doesn’t charge me for negligence! What do the Mazda RX-8 dash lights mean?

Your Mazda has the standard warning lights described above, along with lights for:
- AFS
- Cruise control
- Traction control
- Tire pressure
- Brake warning
- Coolant warning
- BSM OFF warning
- Power steering warning
- TCS OFF warning
- Alerts if a door or fuel door is open
The most serious warning lights to look out for are the
check engine light
and the tire pressure light. Your vehicle should have an owner’s manual in the glove box if you need to look up the meaning of a specific light.Ultimately, it is the job of the rental company to maintain its fleet properly. You shouldn’t be held responsible if a vehicle you borrow has a problem. Just pay attention to the dash lights and remedy the problem ASAP. If it’s a serious warning light, call the rental company!
