What do I need to sell my car in Florida?

I’m moving to the Florida Keys and I’m going to get a scooter rather than try to fight for parking with a regular car. As such, I want to sell my vehicle, but I’ve never done it before. What do I need to successfully sell my car in the Sunshine State?

The Florida Keys are one of the rare places in
Florida
where you probably don’t need a car. If you want to sell your car privately, you’re sure to put more cash in your pocket. Here’s what you need to sell a car in Florida:
  • Pay off the existing loan or lien
  • Complete either a secure title reassignment form HSMV 82994 or form HSMV 82092
  • Complete the Transfer of Title by Seller section on the front of the title
  • Fill out a Bill of Sale form, as it’s required by Florida law
You can download all the forms you need on the Florida DMV website. While you don’t need insurance for a scooter or a moped in Florida, getting some form of coverage probably isn’t a bad idea. To get an idea of what type of policy could fit your lifestyle, use the
