Believe it or not, sliding doors that won’t open or close are a common complaint among owners of the 2014
Toyota Sienna
.
There are several possible explanations, as well as fixes, for malfunctioning sliding doors on the 2014 Toyota Sienna:
  • Latch motor failure. If you hear a noise when you press the automatic door button, but the door doesn’t move, you’re likely experiencing a latch motor failure. The only way you can get the door open is to pull the handle and then hold it for two or three seconds. Fortunately, replacing the latch motor is an easy and inexpensive job.
  • Frayed or damaged cable. If the cable in the door frays, the door will work inconsistently. If it breaks entirely, the door will stop working altogether.
  • Circuit overload. If the door opens but doesn’t close, there’s a possibility that you’re experiencing a circuit overload. This happens when the power sliding door isn’t able to latch on properly, due to something blocking it. To fix this issue, simply inspect the upper and lower tracks and see if they are obstructed.
If none of these seem to be the reason for your sliding door being stuck, you may want to
take your car to a repair shop or mobile mechanic
. It is better to get a professional diagnosis than risking creating more damage to your Sienna. This is important if you have an extended car warranty that you don’t want to void.
