What do I do if my 2006 Honda Odyssey’s passenger sliding door won’t open?

My 2006 Honda Odyssey is a fixture in my family, and I recently replaced the battery to keep it running even longer. Something must have gone wrong with the installation because the passenger sliding door won’t open anymore. Is there anything I can do to get the door operating again?

Good thinking to change the battery! That said, you might be spot on that the battery swap is tripping up the passenger sliding door in your 2006 Honda Odyssey. If the battery posts and terminals aren’t making contact, they could affect the door’s ability to open and close.
To confirm if that’s the issue, try doing a reset on your Odyssey’s doors. Here’s how to do it:
  • Close each door manually
  • Make sure the “MAIN” switch on the dashboard is set to “ON”
  • Press and hold the top of the door switches until they both close completely
If the passenger door is still stuck, you might have to adjust the new battery so the terminals and posts are connected. Depending on your confidence in performing
car repairs
, you might want to have an experienced mechanic work on your Odyssey or bring it to a
Honda
dealership for a closer look.
