What could be causing my 2014 RAM 1500 ticking noise on startup?
I’ve noticed a ticking noise in my truck every time I start it up. My friends with Rams say they’ve noticed the same thing, so I always figured it was normal. What could be causing my 2014 RAM 1500 ticking noise on startup?

In a 2014 RAM 1500, a ticking noise on startup could be caused by:
- Low oil
- A bad oil filter
- A loose exhaust manifold bolt
Clicking or ticking right when a car starts is often caused by low oil levels. It may also be a symptom of your specific type of oil filter—and you’re not the only Ram driver to report this issue.
If the problem is not fixed with a new filter and oil top up, you might want to check out the ignition system. It could also be a loose exhaust manifold bolt.
