What companies manufacture electric car charging stations?

Charging stations are popping up all over the place. It’s easy to recognize a Tesla charging station since I can see their logo, but some of these charging stations don’t have a logo or brand that I can pick out. What companies manufacture electric car charging stations?

There are several companies that are wading out into this new frontier, and this is a good thing for EV owners. The U.S. has an estimated 21,000
charging stations
at present, and this number is predicted to rise quickly. Some of the companies that are manufacturing
electric car
charging stations currently include:
  • ChargePoint: Apart from Tesla, this is probably the most recognizable EV charging station manufacturer at present. Having bought out General Electric’s charging stations in 2017, ChargePoint is staged to be one of the largest brand names in the EV industry over the coming decade.
  • BP: Infamous for the Texas oil spill that has had lasting effects on the gulf, BP is also interested in the electric car market. Along with Shell energy,** **expect BP and other fossil fuel companies to diverge part of their interests into the EV market.
  • EVgo: With a comprehensive leveling system (which potential EV owners will need to get up to speed on), EVgo is popular in the state of California. This company has over 1,000 charging stations across the continental U.S.
It’s important to also be aware that charging stations offer a variety of charging “levels” for customers, which refers to the amount of time it takes to charge your EV in order to travel a certain distance. It might seem confusing at first, but it’s actually pretty simple. The leveling system works like this:
  • Level 1 charging: charges up to 2 miles in 30 minutes
  • Level 2 charging: charges up to 10 miles in 30 minutes
  • Level 3 direct current (DC) fast charging: charges up to 75 miles in 30 minutes
