What colors do metal roofs come in?
I just bought my first house and the roof needs to be replaced. I am thinking about getting a metal one, but I love the look of the terracotta one that it has now. What colors do metal roofs come in?

Congratulations on buying your first home! Of course, with homeownership comes lots of projects and unexpected costs. If you do go with a metal roof, know that you may never have to replace it again.
The good news is, metal roofing has come a long way—you can get it in virtually any color, including terracotta. Some companies even offer multicolor metal roofing that looks similar to stone or wood.
Even more important than the color you choose is the type and quality of paint used on the roof. Keep in mind that some colors and finishes will fade more quickly than others:
- Matte paints hold up better than glossy paints on metal roofing
- Fluoropolymer/PVDF-based paints are the best quality and will help prevent fading
- Lighter colors made using inorganic pigments last the longest
When you replace your roof, make sure to update your
home insurance policy
to reflect your new risk levels. This can be a great time to shop around and see if you could be getting a better deal. Jerry
