What causes 2012 Jeep Wrangler ticking noises?

I’ve always loved the look of the Wrangler, and I was finally able to score one for a great deal at a nearby used car lot. It ran great at first, but now it’s started making some weird noises. What causes 2012 Jeep Wrangler ticking noises?

Wrangler ticking noises can be caused by low oil pressure, a leak in the exhaust system, or problems with the ignition. Most typically, low oil levels are to blame. Motor oil keeps your Wrangler’s engine parts lubricated so they don’t grind up against each other. If your engine oil levels are low, those parts will run up against each other and can cause a ticking noise.
Before you do anything else,
pop the hood
, grab your dipstick, and check your oil levels. If your Wrangler is running low, top it off with a little extra motor oil—but be sure to double check and make sure you’re using the right kind!
