What car maintenance is necessary at 100,000 miles?

At 100,000 miles, what car maintenance is necessary to keep your vehicle running smoothly? I'm familiar with most types of routine car repairs such as tire rotations and oil changes. However, I just bought my first new car, and I fully plan on taking it to 100,000 miles.

“When you reach 100,000 miles on your car, you’ll want to do the following maintenance:
  • System flushes and liquid replacement
  • Spark plug replacements
  • Inspection and possible replacement of exhaust system, timing belts, and water pump
  • Brake inspection
  • Possibly new tires
  • Switch out all filters
Your
used car warranty
or
car insurance
probably won’t cover this type of maintenance, so be prepared to use your maintenance budget or pay out of pocket with your savings.
As you budget for car ownership, don’t forget to plan for car insurance. Insurance can be a costly aspect of owning a vehicle, but it doesn’t have to be.
