We love the John Wick movies too! According to the script, John Wick’s original car was the 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429. However, there has been speculation that the actual car was a 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 disguised as a Boss 429.
This wouldn’t be surprising as the Boss 429 is an ultra-rare gem that was designed as a NASCAR homologation special. What makes the Boss 429 so special is that it had a 335hp Semi-Hemi 429 cubic inch engine that excelled on the race tracks. Ford only made 859 units of this Mustang for 1969, which propelled it to collector’s item status.
Believe it or not, a well-preserved or meticulously restored model can cost more than $500,000 so it’s even more unlikely that the real deal was used in the movie.
After John Wick’s Boss 429 was stolen, he acquired an equally rare car—the 1970 Chevelle SS 454 LS6.
