What car does the pope travel in?

I’ve always wanted to see the pope in public, but I’ve never had the chance. A friend of mine who saw him says he travels in a vehicle to prevent an assassination. What is the pope’s car like?

The car the pope travels in is befittingly known as the Popemobile.
It’s been around in various iterations since the 1930s, but the modern-day Popemobile came into existence in 1981 after the attempted assassination of Pope John Paul II. Since then, the pope rides in vehicles equipped with bulletproof glass and steel plating to prevent an assassination.
Although a third of Popemobiles have been made by Mercedes, the pontiff has also ridden in modified versions of these cars:
  • Jeep Wrangler
  • Various Fiats
  • Range Rover
  • Isuzu D-Max
Although you probably will never need to equip your car with bulletproof glass, protecting yourself with the right car insurance is essential to driving safely. And with affordable insurance options through the
