My Florida auto insurance premium just increased significantly at my renewal. Why do rates keep going up here?

“Unfortunately, Florida is one of the most expensive states in the nation to insure a car. There are a number of factors that make FL more expensive for car insurance.
Florida, according to one estimate, has the highest number of uninsured drivers per capita in the US. The increased cost of insurance only exacerbates this issue, creating more uninsured drivers and leading to more premium increases.
In addition, Florida has a significant number of high-risk drivers residing in and visiting the state, leading to more accidents, injuries, insurance claims, and increased insurance payouts.
It sounds like it is time to find cheap car insurance elsewhere. If you’re unhappy with your rate, you always have the option of comparison shopping with other carriers.
The Jerry app is a good place to start. A licensed broker, Jerry does all the hard work of finding the cheapest quotes from the top name-brand insurance companies and buying new car insurance. Jerry will even cancel your old policy for you.”

I only drive my parents' cars when I am in town for the holidays. Aside from that, I only rent a car a couple of times a year. My dad says I need to buy a non-owner policy, but I don't get why.

"Should I go with a longer car loan term if the interest rate stays the same? "
"I got pre-approved for a $25,000 car loan at a 3.52% interest rate through my credit union. The interest rate will stay the same whether I go for a four-year loan or a five-year loan. Is there any downside to going with the longer-term loan for the lower monthly payments? "
