What are unlawful vehicle modifications in California?

I’m moving to California soon, but I’m worried about my car. I love to work on cars and I did most of the modifications on my car myself. What vehicle modifications are considered unlawful in California?

California
has strict laws on modifying cars, so take a look at the following list of prohibited modifications to plan your next steps:
  • Exhaust modifications
  • Dark window tint
  • Red, blue, or amber window tint
  • Red lights at the front of a car
  • TV screens on the driver’s side
  • Passenger vehicle height above 27 inches
  • Engine modifications
  • Hanging anything from the rearview mirror
  • Colorful license plates
Following these rules may not be fun, but it will keep you out of any unnecessary trouble. Plus, there are still plenty of legal modifications you can add!
