What are the top five things I should carry in my Jeep in case of an emergency?

I off-road with my Jeep. While I often try to do it with other off-roading enthusiasts, I'm continually guilty of heading off on my own, with or without another passenger. Are there some items I should put in my Jeep in case of an emergency, especially if I'm an avid off-roader?

“If you’re off-roading in a Jeep in the middle of nowhere, the first thing you should do is tell someone where you are and when you expect to be back.
If you’re ever injured, you want to be sure that people know where to look for you. So cement that idea in your head: always tell someone.
If you get stranded, you’ll also want to pack your Jeep with these five items:
  • Deadman’s winch, which can help pull you out if you’re stuck by using natural items in the landscape around you
  • Firstaid kit
  • An extra tire and equipment to change it
  • Food and water
  • Blankets and an extra set of clothes in case you’re having an overnight stay at the outdoor Ritz-Carlton
Obviously, you can add more items if you’d like, but this will give you a start on your Jeep emergency kit.
While it’s not something to pack, be sure to review your car insurance. Not all insurance will cover off-raoding, but it doesn’t hurt to check. Use the free
