What are the symptoms of a bad 6.7L Cummins fuel rail pressure sensor?

I have a Dodge Ram 2500 pickup, and lately, it's acting a little funny. A buddy of mine insists that it has something to do with the fuel sensor, but it is hard to tell if he knows what he is talking about. I’d rather not go to a mechanic until I have some idea what might be wrong. What are the symptoms of a bad 6.7L Cummins fuel rail pressure sensor?

It is always good to get a second opinion when a friend diagnoses your car trouble!
Check engine light, difficulty starting, stalling, bad gas mileage, and poor acceleration are symptoms of a failing fuel rail pressure sensor in your 6.7L Cummings diesel engine.
These symptoms can also occur if you are using the
wrong fuel
for your truck, so make sure you are using the so make sure you are using the correct grade of gas.
The fuel rail pressure sensor in your
Dodge
connects to your engine’s ECU (computer) and determines how much fuel gets released into the engine at all times.
If your 6.7L Cummins fuel rail pressure sensor fails, the engine will deliver the wrong amount of fuel to its combustion chambers. Then the following symptoms can occur:
  • The check engine light is on
  • Difficulty starting the vehicle
  • Poor acceleration
  • Stalling
  • Bad gas mileage
