What are the pros, cons, and cost of a lifted Mini?

The other day I saw a lifted Mini at the beach. It wasn’t a really aggressive lift—like maybe 2 inches. Now, I’m thinking about doing it myself. What are the pros and cons of a lifted Mini?

There are some major pros and cons to a lifted
Mini
. Here are the main things to consider.
Pros
Cons
Increased ground clearance for better off-roading
Increased clearance makes it more difficult to get in and out of the vehicle—but a 2 inch lift shouldn’t be that bad.
Better visibility
Issues with handling ability, especially on turn—again a 2 inch lift on a Mini should not interfere too much with handling.
Possible to install larger rims and tires
Weight can impact wear on ball joints and other components—likely not a factor with a small lift.
Aesthetic appeal (a lifted Mini just looks great!)
Cost—but it can be expensive to buy and install a lift kit (at the minimum, a lift kit will run you around $500 without installation)
Note: If your Mini is still under warranty, installing a lift kit may just void it. So be sure to read the fine print.
