What are the parts of a car’s wheel and axle?

I’m taking my car to the mechanic soon for an axle-related issue—I’m not super familiar with the parts they’ll be working on, but I want to know what they’ll be doing. What are the parts of a car’s wheel and axle?

A wheel is composed of approximately 6 different parts:
  • Wheel bearings
  • Wheel rims
  • Wheel fasteners
  • Tires
  • Hub
  • Valve system
However, it should be noted that the hub of the wheel contains the calipers, brake pads, and rotors as well—bringing the actual part count to a total of 9.
An axle is composed of roughly 12 different parts:
  • Spring clip
  • Inboard joint
  • Two snap rings
  • Roller groove
  • Roller
  • Spider
  • Boot band B
  • Boot band C
  • Inboard joint boot
  • Outboard joint boot
  • Outboard CV joint
  • Complex CV axle assembly
Hopefully, this helps you understand the procedure better!
