I found a great deal on a used car. The only problem is that it’s a stick shift and I’ve never driven one before. I still want to buy it, but I want some tips on how to drive a manual. What are some of the do’s and don’ts of driving a manual shift car?

- Do keep your car in neutral while at a stoplight.
- Do use the correct gear for the situation.
- Do use patience when upshifting or downshifting.
- Do practice to get the feel of your car.
Don’ts:
- Don’t ride the clutch (rest your foot on the clutch).
- Don’t shift without pushing the clutch down.
- Don’t shift with low RPMs.
- Don’t use the clutch to prevent rolling.
- Don’t force the stick shift into place.
- Don’t use the manual shift to do spinouts.
