What are the consequences of driving without a license in Connecticut?
I am 14 and don't have my permit yet. I've been taking my sister's car to practice driving. What could happen if I get pulled over?
“The consequences of driving without a license or permit in Connecticut depends on your age.
Since you are under 18, your driving privileges would be suspended for one year. Without a permit, this year may begin when you’re eligible for it. This means you may not be able to get your permit until you’re 17 or 18. If you’re pulled over, you could also face fines or fees.
Even if you don’t get pulled over, you risk seriously injuring yourself or someone else. Driving a vehicle without any experience is extremely dangerous. You could damage your sister’s car or someone else’s property, as well as cause bodily harm.
If this happens, your sister’s car insurance may not pay for the damage as you’re likely taking the vehicle without permission. Without insurance coverage, you and your family are responsible for all damage or injuries you cause.
To protect yourself and others, you shouldn’t be driving your sister’s car. While it’s tempting, you could face serious consequences. Tickets, violations, and accidents all stay on your record for a significant amount of time and could impact your ability to drive in the future.
So calm your jets there, turbo, and just enjoy being a kid for a few more years. You’ll get to the age when you can drive and enjoy all of the responsibilities that come with it. In fact, you might want to start saving for car insurance now, as it’s likely your most expensive part of car ownership. Use the Jerry app to compare rates between dozens of different insurers and get your future budget in order.”
