I live in Vermont, but I’ve always wanted to go to Acadia National Park. It’s not that far of a drive, so I thought I’d take a week off work to do some exploring. What are some of the best things to do in Acadia National Park?

Acadia National Park is the most-visited attraction in
Maine
and one of the most popular national parks in America, welcoming 3.5 million visitors a year. If you’re headed there in the summer, it’s a bit crowded, but you still have plenty of options. Here are the best things to do in Acadia National Park:- Go hiking. Be prepared—this isn’t your average hike. Plenty of trails ascend rock faces, so you have to use iron rungs and ladders to reach the next lookout. It’s not for the faint of heart, but it’s definitely worth the trip.
- Watch the sunrise from Cadillac Mountain. It’s one of the first spots in the U.S. to view the sunrise, but the parking lot fills up quickly. Arrive 30 minutes before sunrise to stake out your spot.
- Take pictures. If you want to channel your inner Ansel Adams, Acadia affords you the opportunity. Some of the best places to snap photos are Thunder Hole, Bubble Rock, Otter Cliff, and Somersville Bridge.
