What are the best snow tires for a Kia Optima

I just moved from Los Angeles to Colorado, and I’m finding winter driving to be a bit tricky. Any advice on what snow tires are best for a Kia Optima?

Driving in the snow takes some getting used to, and snow tires are always a good idea. The best snow tires for a
Kia Optima
—now known as the
Kia K5
—are Bridgestone Blizzak WS90s.
Snow tires are made with a type of rubber that stays soft in cold temperatures and feature a chunkier tread to give you added traction in snowy conditions. Other great winter tires for the Kia Optima/K5 include:
  • Dunlop Winter Maxx
  • Hankook Winter iCept IZ2
  • Cooper Discoverer True North
  • Falken Espia EPZ II
In addition to giving you increased traction in the winter, adding
winter tires
to your Kia could qualify you for a discount on your car insurance.
If you can’t find a good winter tire for your Kia Optima, you can get away with using an all-season tire like the Michelin Defender T+H, though you’ll want to be a little more cautious with your speed and your turns.
It’s also a good idea to ensure that your
car insurance
is up to date for the winter. Slippery driving conditions cause accidents, and solid
collision coverage
and
liability coverage
can give you the peace of mind you need to get through your first Colorado winter.
