What are the best road trip destinations in the South?
I live in the Midwest and I’ve been everywhere in the region, but I’ve never really explored the South. I have about three weeks to drive around, but I’m not sure what the best places to visit are. What are some of the best road trip destinations in the South?

The South is unlike anywhere else in America—with a storied history, the warmest people, and cuisine that’s great for the soul but not exactly the waistband, it’s a must-visit. But if you’re at a loss of where to go, here are some of the best road trip destinations in the South:
- Atlanta: The Jewel of the South offers sporting events, the Coca-Cola Museum, and southern architecture. And make sure you grab a meal at The Varsity. Just make sure you know what you want when you hear “What’ll you have?”
- Savannah: Southern hospitality is at its finest in this coastal Georgia city. Walk the cobblestone streets, explore the breathtaking Forsyth Park, or go on a ghost tour to get the most out of your time.
- Myrtle Beach: If you want to know what America would be like if it was taken over by carnival folk, Myrtle Beach is the place to do it. While you can ride the rides and play carnival games, a walk on the beach or a round of golf is just as fun.
