What are the best places to live in Hoboken?

I have to move to the NYC area for a job, and I’m thinking that living in New Jersey will be a good option. Hoboken is still super close to Manhattan but I’m hoping it will be cheaper—what are the best places to live in Hoboken?

Hoboken
is really small (about two square miles), so there aren’t super distinct areas like in some larger cities. The best places to live in Hoboken, especially if you want easy access to NYC transit options, will be the downtown area, specifically below 4th or 5th street.
Housing will be less expensive the further back from the Hudson River you get. If you want to be in the thick of things, Washington Street has lots of shopping, dining, and nightlife, but might be a bit noisy. Want a view of the Manhattan skyline? Splurge on an apartment right on the river bank!
