What are some tips for traveling in an electric car or EV?

I just bought my first electric car and have gotten used to driving it around town. This summer, I’ll be driving from Oregon to Texas for my high school reunion. Do you have any tips for traveling long-distance in an EV?

Today’s EVs are remarkable, but they do take some planning for long road trips.
Here are some tips for traveling in your
electric vehicle
:
  • Use an app or website to locate charging stations along your route. And be sure to install the app (and learn how it works) before you embark upon your road trip.
  • Know your EV’s typical mileage after a charge and make sure you know what type of EV charging connector your car has. This will help you to plan when and where to stop.
  • Plan to charge your car well in advance of the maximum range of your car. Let’s say that you typically get 300 miles out of a full charge. When you’re on a long trip, plan to pull in for a charge after about 200 miles.
Before you and your family head out for your road trip, review your
car insurance
policy to ensure you have the best coverage for extra peace of mind. Try using the number-one-rated car insurance app,
