What are some tips for driving in the rain?

I’m moving to Florida from the desert and I don’t have a lot of experience driving in the rain. I know it rains a lot in Florida, so do you have any helpful hints for staying safe when driving in the rain?

You’ll definitely be driving in the rain when you move to
Florida
! These are some tips to keep you save when driving in the rain:
  • Turn your lights on. This helps other cars see you in poor visibility conditions.
  • Turn off cruise control. If you lose contact with the road, cruise control can cause you to spin out of control.
  • Only go out if necessary. If you can avoid the trip, stay home until the weather clears up.
  • Don’t drive through standing water. It can be hard to gauge the depth and you can lose control of your vehicle in as little as three inches of water.
  • Pull over if you can’t see. If you can’t see the road or the vehicle in front of you, pull over and wait for the rain to lessen.
  • Slow down. Speed limits apply to dry roads in perfect conditions.
